Classes

My curriculum is designed to teach theory and physical application. Courses are divided into different levels with a 85% comfortability of material requirement to be eligible to advance to the next level; Student skill and theory assessment and evaluations are conducted on a regular basis and at the end of each level to ensure their readiness for advancement.

FYI - Tropical Image Inc. has a curriculum of instruction that has been effective for over 20 years, it has taught many of the great dancers, competitors and performers the Salsa Community enjoys today.

I guarantee you will see a change in your dance skills provided you practice as an individual and as generally suggested by your instructors AND as long as you follow the techniques and instructions as they are taught in the classes.

Levels

BEGINNER LEVEL - No Previous Dance Experience required. (Level progresses in 3 sessions - Level 1, 2 & 3)

INTERMEDIATE - Previous Dance Experience/ Knowledge of the Basic steps and Turns in Salsa On2. (Level progresses in 3 sessions - Level 1, 2 & 3)

ADVANCED. - Understanding and knowledge of fundamentals, lead/follow techniques, Basic Right/Left/ Inside/Outside/ Copa turns; both male and female should be able to Double Spin at minimum, proper weight transfer and knowledge of Salsa On2 Terminology. (This level is open to experienced dancers and those who have completed Beginner and Intermediate levels)

OPEN LEVEL - SALSA - requires previous dance experience/ Knowledge of the Basic steps, terminology and Turns in Salsa On2

Ability to maintain proper balance, speed, timing and execution.

BACHATA - requires knowledge of the three (3) main basic steps, and Turns

Stages of the Levels

Level 1: Covers Lead & Follow, Fundamentals and execution of the Basic steps and Turns within the level.

Level 2: Teaches Variations to the fundamentals, combinations, movement, comfortability and style.

Level 3: This level connects techniques into combinations that can be used while social dancing, it will allow room for creativity and own expression on the dance floor. Timing, Rhythm, Breaks, Body movement, Styling, Weight transfer, Improvisation, Creativity and fun while dancing are the focus of this Level.

Classes

CLASSES: Our class cycles/levels run on a 12-week cycle and work on a progressive manner to ensure advancement and proper learning technique. In these levels Balance, posture, foundation of a strong basic and turns as well as dance terminology are learned and drilled into being mastered

WORKSHOPS/SERIES: Vary on covering fundamentals of the focused dance, to teaching a concentrated portion of the dance. The level advertised determines material to be covered and who should attend. These require a strong foundation of basic turns, the basic step, balance, posture and timing as well as understanding of Dance On2 Terminology.

BOOTCAMPS/SERIES: are a concentrated class of a certain amount of time that will challenge your skills and push you out of your comfort zone.

These require a strong foundation of basic turns, the basic step, balance, posture and timing as well as understanding of Dance On2 Terminology.

INTRO: Focuses on the Main fundamentals and Basic skills needed to advance into a Level 1/ Beginner class with comfort and confidence in execution (this class is a Fundamentals Bootcamp)

ADVANCEMENT/EVALUATION

At end of Bootcamp you may be assigned a level for your next recommended Class Cycle/level, based on your Instructor's observations throughout the cycle and evaluation day.

To advance, you MUST be able to execute 85% of the material taught with comfort and have knowledge of the material when quizzed.

IMPORTANT GUIDELINES

* All SALES for services are final, Non-refundable, Non-transferable - No make ups, exchanges, or substitutions. If you miss a class; Please make sure you arrive early to next session to catch up on missed work, during the review portion of the class.

  • Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes to classes
  • SUEDE BOTTOM DANCE SHOES Suggested in all classes (Jazz Shoes, Ballroom shoes, etc.) see our store shoes for option
  • Please refrain from wearing rubber or sticky sole shoes
  • Attendance is Key to progress; Please do your best to attend All of your sessions in the cycle
  • Classes start/end on time, please be prompt & consistent with attendance.
  • All Cycle class registrations close on 2nd week of Class
  • Classes meet on same day, Same time Once per week
  • There are 4 classes p/month
  • There are no Make ups/ substitutions due to absences.
  • We reserve the right to move a start date due to enrollment minimum not being met to start the group class.
  • To advance, you MUST be able to execute 85% of the material taught with comfort and have knowledge of the material when quizzed.

PRIVATE Lessons require 50% deposit at time of booking; Private lessons cancelled with less than 24 hrs notice, will forfeit deposit.

* CLASSES ARE ALWAYS IN SESSION regardless of weather, etc. in the rare event that a class is canceled by the studio for any reason, the material will be covered as the Director sees fit in the next coming sessions, such cancellation/studio closing will be posted on our WEBSITE CALENDAR at least 2 hours before the 1st scheduled class of the day.
